Oh Joyous Day!

OH JOYOUS DAY! / Nii & Jana

There's something about a wedding that stirs so many emotions in people. I don't think there's a greater joy than seeing two people that absolutely love each other come together and commit their love for each other in front of their family and friends.

What they're doing is inviting those people to celebrate what God has done, yes, but also to take charge of looking out for the couple: to pray for them, to check in with them, and to be there with them as they venture into an adventure the likes of which they've never seen before.

Even though I wasn't the official photographer for Nii and Jana's wedding, I had a blast being able to capture some moments on their joyous day. And it's one I won't be forgetting soon!

The Stars That Shine Our Way

THE STARS THAT SHINE OUR WAY

Last Monday night, I went out with Robert to do some long exposure night shots down in Santa Cruz. Robert was the one taught me how to use an SLR camera in the first place, and taught me a lot about photography. So any chance I get to shoot with him is more than welcomed, as it is most often a learning experience.

We went down to Sea Cliff, and headed down to the pier to set up. It was pretty clear, and the stars were absolutely beautiful. While experimenting to see what a 30-second exposure at ISO 1600 would look like, I ended up with this image. It's a little underexposed, but it was the shot that best turned out at that location. The stars, the pier, the branch - they all worked so well together, and as I looked at the produced image, I couldn't help but be amazed by the beauty that surrounded me that night.

This photo was a reminder to me as to why I fell in love with this art form in the first place.
